Along time ago at Yuendumu some Yapa (Warlpiri people) decided to go back to Nyirripi to live. They drove to Old Nyirripi with one Kardiya (White Person) called John Henwood. Old Nyirripi is about 30km north of Jirtilparnta. It is a dry creek with sandhill on the side. Yapa moved to Jirtilparnta because they ran of water.
Nyirrpi or Jirtilparnta is in Central Australia. It is 6 hours drive north west of Alice Springs. It is 160 kilometres south west of Yuendumu. At Nyirrpi there are mostly Warlpiri, Pintupi and Kukatja people. There are a few English, Arrernte and Pitjantjatjara speakers too.
